Rhonda’s Bio

Rhonda DiamondDon and Rhonda good pic

Rhonda has been married to her husband Paul, an avid surfer and inner-city 5th grade teacher for the last 37 years.  Together they have 3 grown children, ranging in age from 27 to 34, and a 3-year-old grandson, Jack.  By profession Rhonda is a Legal Assistant, but having stayed home for many years to raise her children, she mostly considers herself a full time mom & grandma.

A dance instructor and competitor, Rhonda teaches and competes in West Coast Swing and Country/Ballroom (Waltz, ChaCha, 2-step, and more).  She has competed in the US Open Swing Dance Championships for the last 5 years, placing 3rd in the Masters Division in 2012, and 5th in 2013.  She holds three world championship titles with the UCWDC (United Country Western Dance Council) in couples and teams, among numerous other awards in her competitive career over the last 18 years.

Rhonda also runs and promotes a monthly 2nd Saturday West Coast Swing dance party in Torrance, featuring workshops, open dancing to the best WCS DJ music, occasional performances and great snacks.  Rhonda and the late ‘DJDK’ David Koppelman founded the dance in 2007 and it has been attended by many long time swing dancers as well as beginners who come from all over So Cal.  She has also dabbled in background/extra work for movies and TV, and was assistant choreographer & dancer in the 2009 world premiere Hollywood musical “Savin’ Up For Saturday Night”.
